MAISON & OBJET: “KNOW HOW” BETWEEN TRADITION AND INNOVATION
28/01/2015
On January 23rd2015, Maison & Objet blew out all its candles for its 20th birthday. In order to celebrate this very special day, “Birthday cakes meet birthday plates” is the claim Maison & Objet choose for this edition.
From this edition on M&O decided to award 4 designers as the best ones of the year (four instead of one as it was in the previous years) depending on the expected events: Japanese Oki Sato was awarded in Paris, on March 2015 Lyndon Neri and Rosanna Hu will be victorious on the podium in Syngapore, on May will be the turn of Brazilian Zanini de Zanine in Miami while on September the designer Dorothee Meilichzon will be awarded in Paris, again.
Massive Italian presence in the showcase has been reconfirmed with more than 350 brands for whatever product group: from accessories to textile field, from design furnishing complements to luxury furnishing.
The main topic of the conference about handicraft traditionis “TO Make”.
This traditional know-how gives back the value objects had lost, so it is very important that designers, artists and artisans define again the rules as to create the basis for a new world thanks to hands mastery along with innovative technologies.
Since M&O was addressed to different world areas such as Asia (March 10th_ 13th, 2015)and, for this edition only, to United States, too, (May 12th – 15th, 2015) the “Great global community” is the setting that has been confirmed rather than a simple fair because “ twenty years is the right age to travel around the world” – M&O organizers laugh at.
Luxury home linen lines, room air fresheners designed from popular brands, refined and accurate research ways to process the most refined essences such as last wood furnishing collections and much more.
Moreover provencal influences along with shabby chic, country one mixed with vintage and urban atmospheres drawing inspiration from the 30s to the 70s reconsidering in a modern version some other items belonging to industrial design.
The cherry on the top (we must say!) was the special participation of President Claudio Luti, who has recently nominated Expo 2015 Ambassador.
It seems like the main objective of M&O was accomplished once again: to put together the most unique actors of best talent, excellence experts , innovation and trends.
