DIGITAL FABRICS @ EXPO 2015

Expo – Italy:  in order to house new original inventions, this time, this worldwide popular event has chosen Milan as the main location.

2015 edition is shaped on the topic “Feed the planet, Energy for Life” and it is aimed at suggesting precious advices about how to effectively and efficiently use and take advantage of the available resources not neglecting environment’s safeguard.

Among the ongoing initiatives and events, 6 young designers have tailored dresses and created  kitchen accessories with 100% Made in Italy products. They are made of filaments deriving from recycled plastic bottles’ reuse. Young artists have worked before Expo Gate audience’s eyes . Largo Cairoli’s temporary facility was built as a supporting structure for Expo 2015 and it has been converted into a handcraft lab where a newer side of fashion has been shown with an eye to new trends. All this respecting environment of course.

The filaments’ range is called “Newlife” and it gives the opportunity to create fabrics and garments like window treatment curtains for your house, interior  and exterior design accessories, underwear, leather industry, sportswear and work wear.

 In addition to the traditional sewing machine, mannequins  and Newlife fabrics, in order to create some accessories and complements for the clothing, Ekocycle Cube 3D printer  was at stylists’ complete disposal  in the lab.

“I interpreted the theme of energy as a bond of shapes, colors and creativity. I have played trying to link different parts of my clothes with printed draperies and I have proven that sustainable fashion has got a future” Fashion Remake contest winner Martina reports .

During Expo, Coca Cola will exhibit  at Rho Fiera, within its stand, the winner dress together with the entire Ecocycle line, exclusively made with 100% PET recycled bottles’ materials. Each garment has an indication about the type of recycled material used for its creation. Here there are some examples: Coca-Cola plastic-made caps, jackets  created with the 61% of recycled materials and made from  14 bottles; all these garments were available and ready to be purchased inside the stand itself.

So, what’s the purpose? Instructing  consumers about recycling importance in everyday life ensuring that their purchasing choices may ensure environment ‘s safeguard and sustainability.
