FIREPROOF FABRICS’ FEATURES
17/02/2016
We can call
a fabric a fire-proof one (from Latin IGNIS, Fire) if it possesses a high
resistance to fire.
In
particular, this kind of fabric is able not to burn completely or it burns only
when the temperature rises to it maximum threshold level so that it burns
slowly (that’s why it is also called Fire retardant).
A fire
proof fabric usually has got a particular composition which makes it very
resistant to fire. Alternatively, it undergoes a special process which isolates
it from fire.
Differently
from ordinaryfabrics, fireproof ones don’t produce toxic smokes which can
damage our sight and breathing, which are the main causes of death in fires.
They are
widely used in reception facilities (hotels, restaurants, residences,
accommodations) and in whatever public facility such as schools, commercial
buildings, p.a.’s offices).
A fireproof
fabric isn’t used as a window treatment
curtain’s fabric only . It can also be used in sofas, armchairs, chair and
mattresses coating, bed linen, table cloths and bathroom linen.
In order to
be a very good and effective fabric, we need to accurately maintain it through
a dry cleaning according to the instructions indicated in its specific label.
It is very recommended to clean this fabric without any liquid detergents
because they can seriously reduce the fabric fire proof power’s effectiveness.
It is
important to keep the fireproof fabric out of bad weather conditions so that it
is recommended to check your fabric every year by an expert.
