FROM SALONE DEL MOBILE, THE HOUSE WE WILL LIVE IN, IN THE FUTURE
23/04/2014
It’s been a week already the Salone del Mobile is over, a massive event that catalyzed the attention of a great audience between furnishing field professionals and curious people.
Inspirations, curiosities, images, new trends (not to mention the collateral shows organized before and after the main event)… it was an entire week dedicated to furnishing world.
What is left of the Milano Design Week we always waited for impatiently every year with a certain amount of excitement?
For now we have the numbers, even more important and constantly growing. As this show was a metaphorical bridge for the massive and more than expected EXPO 2015 event, this Salone del Mobile edition observed a 20% increase between audience and incomes than the last edition, thus underlining the sharp upswing involving design world, too. The Salone registered the presence of 357.212 visitors while the Furisalone went beyond 400.000 presences which brought more than 250 million incomes for the entire city. Brera, in particular, with more than 135 events, was the most visited area.
Brera Design District confirm itself again, indeed, the reference point for design in general in Milan and the most important and visited area with its 140.000 visitors.
Theme of this edition – Design Classes – BE DISTRICT – Creating Connections, communicating innovation induced the creation of a Manifesto together with the Associazione Italiana Storici del Design and the organization of a 20 lessons session and 7 conferences on this theme during the 6 days of the Salone.
This year, too, CTA had a leading role within the Salone del Mobile event. We exhibited some of our creations such as Cannella, a fabric from Iris Collection, Ipanema (Movida Coll.), Tahiti (Movida Coll.) and also some models from Cottage collection. A unique occasion to show the big audience the great quality and design of our fabrics in a view of company expansion on a larger national scale in coincidence with our new commercial office opening in Milan.
Peeking through the stands of the Fair, in order to instruct the newest fashion trends in interior design field for the future, we tried to collect some style recommendation and suggestions.
For the moment the actual trend is white, beige and basically, grey. In a word, they are the main colors you can find having a look through the Salone del Mobile 2014 stands dedicated to modern furnishing.
However, there isn’t any more a difference between styles. Houses welcome and mix different souls. If classic style is a strong point in Italian tradition, it is more and more reconsidered in a contemporary key, above all through the use of furnishing complements inspired by innovation, styles metamorphosis and by design in evolution.
Foreign market influenced esthetic choices and style, too. Made in Italy looks at these markets very accurately and with always increasing attention. In this way we can find embroideries with some oriental motifs and the use of some tones such as light blue mixed with glossy golden, in order to face the needs of Arabic market. Or a massive use of silks, in particular in finishing plissé of armchairs’ coatings, particularly appreciated by Chinese market.
In the end, the Salone del Mobile gave a great attention to young designers and master craftsmen as the protagonists of that manual knowledge typical of Made in Italy tradition. It happened that in the At the SaloneSatellite all that really happened ,that’s to say putting together different generations joined by the same passion and pride for their work. In their textile or leather or ceramics craftsman’s workshops they create great masterpieces right with their hands as to show us and tell the effort and the fascination connected with handmade products.
